About MathGPT Free
We built MathGPT Free because step-by-step math solutions shouldn’t be locked behind a paywall. Every student deserves to understand — not just answer — the problem.
Our Mission
Make step-by-step math solutions accessible to every student, everywhere — for free. Not a 3-problem trial. Not a limited preview. The full solution, with every step explained in plain language, every time.
Why We Built This
The most popular math solvers — Mathway, Symbolab, Wolfram Alpha — all have something in common: they put the part that actually matters behind a paywall. You can see the final answer for free, but the step-by-step breakdown that helps you understand the method? That costs $9.99 a month.
For a student working through a 20-problem calculus set at midnight before an exam, that paywall is the difference between learning and giving up. We thought that was wrong.
MathGPT Free was built on a simple premise: the explanation is the product. Not the answer. The reason why each step follows from the last — that’s what builds understanding, and that’s what every student deserves access to without reaching for a credit card.
What Makes Us Different
Most math solvers run fixed algorithms that output symbolic notation — a chain of formulas with no narrative explanation. MathGPT Free uses AI to generate explanations in plain English, the way a tutor would explain it in person.
When you submit “find the derivative of f(x) = x³·sin(x)”, we don’t just return the answer. We identify that this requires the Product Rule, explain why, show u and v, apply the rule, simplify the result, and mark the final answer. Every step is labeled. Every decision is explained.
That’s the difference between a calculator and a tutor. We built the latter, and made it free.
Our Values
Who Uses MathGPT Free
Our users are high school students working through algebra and pre-calculus, college students in engineering and STEM programs tackling calculus and linear algebra, self-learners working through online courses without access to office hours, and teachers and tutors who need quick worked examples for class materials.
What they all have in common: they need to understand the process, not just get the answer — and they shouldn’t have to pay $9.99 a month for that.
